Inspire the floral ideas

Recently some interesting events in the floral industry have been happening in Calgary. Surely, any wedding shows can point to floral designs, answering customer needs and commercial  sales, but I want to talk about  the high level, unique floral designs, trendy styles and professionals in Floral business who live here in Alberta. In May 2014, in Calgary there were organized  master-classes by  the Flower Centre   “ Wedding Concepts & Future Trending Designs”. Floral designers Yukari Mitsui and John Freriksen shared their experience and knowledge and absolutely high technique of creating the wedding bouquets, accessories, and centerpieces.

I can’t keep the secret and want to report a few interesting wedding designs that could inspire someone who wants to make a bouquet remarkable, unique and fabulous.

Let’s start with the romantic traditional round bouquet.   Here is an example of a new look for it.  Rose lovers may use any colors but in our case a combination of pink roses and double bloom lilies that volume a bouquet. The fine fern adds a frame and depth to the whole arrangement.

The floral concepts during last few years have dramatically shifted to the decoration. No doubt, the beauty of flowers can be shown in a simple bouquet, even a single stem can speak volumes! But think how attractive a hand-tied bouquet(e.g. brilliants, evoking the morning dew) or for example shiny wires, soft feathers, sparkling crystals, semi-precious stones, mosses, LED- lights, fabrics et cetera.

Just  as in any fashion, the floral industry trends  change and develop with ideas, new products, fresh looks and acceptance for something that before had been forbidden. In the 2014 – 2015 season colors of wedding bouquets are bright and bulky, with tropical splashes of orange, purple and blue. The whole red spectrum, starting with hot pink to burgundy, almost chocolate , anything that provokes WOW is hot!

And last, a few words about the products, including foliage, decoration and supplies that go to embellish the flowers.

The American Floral School finally pays respect to the European traditions and picks up the best from conservative old Europe: the importance of foliage! The leaves, buds, branches, seeds, grasses and fruits  occupied strong niche. As well, new methods of tinting and preserving the fresh cut flowers offer the possibility of creating unique and impressive designs!
