July for Calgary means Stampede. Ten days of rodeo, agriculture exhibitions, shows, venues, and amusement park activities keep the Calgary Stampede “The greatest outdoor show in Earth”.
Greenviron Ltd won a tender for floral decoration and provided floral services for the Stampede grounds, restaurants, Infield private suites, Agrium, and for private venues during Stampede 2015.
Floral design with Western influence contains many different flowers. There is an oversized arrangement of field-looking Sunflowers with warm yellow Solidago, grass and rustic brown Cat tails. I wanted it to look as if it had been freshly gathered from a summer meadow.
Yellow is primary colour that brings the splash of sunshine. Yellow is cheerful and bright, and because of these qualities it seems to glow in the dark interior.
Restaurant “Lazy S” with modern interiors provided us the silver narrow vases. I designed the arrangement with thoughts of Western spirit – hanging red Amaranthus, yellow sunflowers, willow and wheat surrounded by horse and bull sculptures.
In the dinner table arrangements, the colour scheme of rustic orange, sunny yellow with dusty blue and green evokes hot prairies sunsets. I added green lines of Bear Grass to repeat the loops of the lampshades. Fresh light green succulents in the centerpiece hold up the arrangement, proportionally balanced with big heads of Sunflowers.
This private dinner table for 10 people is decorated with two table centerpieces that suit guests who want to converse and see each other at their table.
Orange runs a close second to red in intensity and warmth. This richly colored arrangement was created in a black glass vase. Amber-tinted Ruscus combined very organically with dusty blue Eryngium and Bordeaux Pompom mums. The wheat reflects perfectly the Calgary Stampede’s western heritage and community style.
