Designing landscape plans

Perennials garden plan

Choosing the plants and imagining them in all their glory is perhaps the most satisfying aspect of planning a perennial garden. We suggest combining at least three to five of each plant in clamps. Colour combination is important too.

Designing we always keep in mind the mature heights of plants. Tallest plants generally are on back, so that all other plants can be seen. Varied heights also increase the sense of depth.

Floral colour is the most obvious feather of a bed or border. We are following a client taste for colour spectrum and in can be mix bright colours or monochromatic.

With careful planning, a garden can be developed to provide a long season of blooms. Not only a long season of color will result but also a constantly changing pattern of colours and texture as each type reaches its climax of beauty and fades away.

Plan view and perspective view are two different ways to look at same garden.

The repetition of groups of plants is important. It provides a sense of balance and unity to the planting. Some contrast in height, form and possibly even blooming season can be achieved by moving some plants forward or deeper.

Planning the garden, we always think about soil condition, sun exposure, water access and climate zone.
