How to care fresh cut flowers
Place preservative in a clean vase. Preservative adds nourishment for the flowers and reduces bacteria developing in the water.
Add tepid water to the vase. Lukewarm water contains less oxygen then cold, that reduces the risk of stem blockage, which causes bent rose’s necks.
Remove any foliage that will fall below water line. The foliage in water will develop bacteria, shortening the flower life.
Immediately re-cut stems!
Use a sharp knife, cut stems on an angle underwater that will prevent air going up the stem before the water. Air in the stem does not allow the flower head to get the water, causing the head droop. Do not cut stems with dull scissors, this can close the stem ends, and the flowers will not drink the water.
Keep vase filled with clean water and preservative.
Every 2 days, re-cut stems, change water and clean vase.
Keep flowers, especially roses in cool spot away from direct sunlight, cooking areas, heating vents, top of TV, radiators or directly under ceiling fans.
